POSITION PURPOSE

Completes all Functions and Responsibilities of an Occupational Therapist as well as the day-to-day operational responsibilities of the Site where assigned.

Works under the supervision of the Manager of Ambulatory PM&R.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Coordinates staff work schedules and monitors attendance.
  • Provides input to other managers and supervisors regarding staff schedules, and staffing needs.
  • Resource person to staff in clinical and operational matters.
  • Orients and trains new staff.
  • Screens and expedite patient scheduling to meet departmental guidelines, including facilitating scheduling interdisciplinary patients.
  • Makes recommendations and assists in planning and implementing departmental space and programs.
  • Monitors documentation, reports and timely charge submissions.
  • Responsible to maintain adequate supplies for daily operations.
  • Facilitates problem resolution including patient relations issue, medical and other emergencies.
  • Responsible for equipment and space maintenance and repair issues.
  • Provides direct patient care with allocated time for site leadership functions.
  • Works to coordinate volunteers.
  • Liaison to other health care personnel.
  • Conducts performance appraisals after SDL approval.
  • Assists and supports in the Corrective Action process.
  • Participates in interview process for new staff.
  • Assists and supports analysis of financial operations.
  • Other duties as requested by Service Delivery Leader.

Required Education, Experience And Certification/Licensure

  • Education: Graduate from accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of clinical experience, with some supervision of other staff preferred.
  • Certification/Licensure: Licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Michigan.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • The required skills and abilities of the physical therapist.
  • Knowledge of therapy operations, therapeutic treatment, and management skills required to lead and direct subordinate personnel.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff members, and other health care personnel.
  • Skills necessary to plan and prepare work schedules, determine work priorities and procedures, problem solve with patients and staff and makes recommendations of changes based on information gathered.
  • Able to react quickly in sudden unplanned situations in order to prevent or minimize injuries to patients and/or staff.
  • Able to walk and stand for up to 75% of the workday.
  • Able to lift, push and pull weights with an effective force of approximately 40-60 pounds (with or without mechanical devices or other personnel) as needed.
