About the role

Vail Health Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated psychiatrist to join our inpatient facility. This position plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care to adults requiring intensive treatment and support.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients by interviewing, conducting physical exams, observing behaviors, reviewing medical history, and administering psychological tests.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive clinical programming, treatment plans, and curriculum.
  • Ensures all service delivery is evidence-based and complies with state, local, federal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Treats patients using psychotherapeutic methods and medications, discusses progress with patients, and monitors medication effects.
  • Prescribes medication to address chemical imbalances affecting patients' mental and behavioral health.
  • Engages in active on-call rotations to provide timely consultation and intervention for urgent psychiatric issues.
  • Supports UM/UR, insurance authorization, and other patient financial resources as needed.
  • Collaborates with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic care.
  • Consults with external providers, schools, and community agencies to coordinate aftercare plans and support transitions.
  • Provides consultation and clinical training to staff members on various medical and behavioral health subjects, including medication management and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Serves as a collaborative resource and psychiatric expert across the Vail Health system, supporting other service lines as appropriate.
  • Maintains excellence in clinical documentation and complies with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance.
  • Serves as a community leader, providing outreach, education, and engagement across the community as needed.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience providing and supervising psychiatric services, prescribing psychotropic medication, performing psychiatric evaluations, and treating a wide variety of patient diagnoses/complaints.
  • Knowledge of DSM V diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Professionalism and ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues discreetly.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Valid state of Colorado Medical License as an MD or DO.
  • Current DEA with no restrictions on prescribing controlled substances.
  • Eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement.
  • Board certification in psychiatry and board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Experience with telehealth and remote consultations.

Pay

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per year. Yearly Pay $218,000 - $350,000 USD.
