Responsibilities

The Pharmacist’s role is to dispense, compound, label, store, and ensure the proper use of pharmaceutical preparations, contribute to the efficient operation of the department, direct the Pharmacy Technicians, and advance the goals of Norton Healthcare. The Pharmacist uses the principles of pharmaceutical care to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes for individual patients. The Pharmacist may provide pharmacy-related education to pharmacists, technicians, other health care practitioners, and the public.

  • Exercise leadership in all matters related to the medication use process for patients of all ages.
  • Support and facilitate the QI process through ongoing development and monitoring of performance improvement indicators.
  • Facilitate Pharmacy work teams to meet quality and clinical standards of care.
  • Assist the Director in providing effective and efficient use of all resources, ensuring budget and value proposition targets are met.
  • Engage in high-level interaction with physicians, nurses, patients, other health care providers, and pharmacy management for problem-solving and project collaboration.

Work involves non-standardized tasks requiring professional judgment. Errors could lead to cost and quality problems for the Pharmacy Department.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
  • Desired: Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy
  • Desired: Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist
