Clinical Role & Responsibilities
- Conducting physical examinations and analyzing a patient’s medical history
- Studying blood samples and identifying white and red blood cell abnormalities
- Analyzing patient historical data and using data to make informed decisions
- Testing and diagnosing patients
- Performing bone marrow aspirations for the detection of blood disorders
- Treating diseases such as anemia, hemophilia, leukemia
- Administering chemotherapy for the treatment of lymphoma or leukemia
- Treating blood-clotting disorders
- Consulting with other medical professionals in difficult cases
- Interpreting and diagnosing morphologic findings on bone marrow biopsy specimens
- Documenting pathologic findings
- Supporting the Department of Medicine in audits/reviews of documentation
- Contributing to inter-disciplinary team activities such as peer review sessions and other education and quality activities
- Adhering to American Board of Internal Medicine and Hematology criteria for knowledge, guidelines, interpretation of guidelines and execution of guidelines
- Developing and monitoring a personal continuing education strategy

- BC/BE Hematology & Medical Oncology
- The ability to be licensed in the State of Delaware and Maryland and meet credentialing requirements
