Clinical Role & Responsibilities

  • Conducting physical examinations and analyzing a patient’s medical history
  • Studying blood samples and identifying white and red blood cell abnormalities
  • Analyzing patient historical data and using data to make informed decisions
  • Testing and diagnosing patients
  • Performing bone marrow aspirations for the detection of blood disorders
  • Treating diseases such as anemia, hemophilia, leukemia
  • Administering chemotherapy for the treatment of lymphoma or leukemia
  • Treating blood-clotting disorders
  • Consulting with other medical professionals in difficult cases
  • Interpreting and diagnosing morphologic findings on bone marrow biopsy specimens
  • Documenting pathologic findings
  • Supporting the Department of Medicine in audits/reviews of documentation
  • Contributing to inter-disciplinary team activities such as peer review sessions and other education and quality activities
  • Adhering to American Board of Internal Medicine and Hematology criteria for knowledge, guidelines, interpretation of guidelines and execution of guidelines
  • Developing and monitoring a personal continuing education strategy

  • BC/BE Hematology & Medical Oncology
