Inpatient Hospitalist, School of Medicine, Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology

About the role

The Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Boston Medical Center and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine seeks an outstanding clinician to serve as a hospitalist on the inpatient hematology/oncology teaching service.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an attending physician on the inpatient hematology/oncology service at Boston Medical Center, the major teaching hospital for Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
• Rotate on the service for 36 weeks over the course of a year, supervising either a 10-patient or 16-patient team, in an alternating schedule.
• Supervise medical students, interns, and residents rotating on the service.
• Play an integral role in the medical education and mentorship of medical students, interns, and residents.
• Collaborate with multiple disciplines to improve patient outcomes/safety, optimize efficiency of patient progression through hospitalization, implement new systems and processes, establish more consistent standards of practice in the acute care setting, and enhance medical education.

Requirements

• Board certified/eligible in internal medicine.
• Demonstrated interest and ability to provide acute care to hospitalized oncology patients.
• Work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary care teams.
• Licensed or able to obtain a license in the State of Massachusetts.
• Current BLS certification.
• Passion and interest for excellence in patient care and teaching in an academic inpatient hospital setting, with an interest in hematology/oncology.

Qualifications

• M.D., D.O., or M.D./Ph.D.
• ABIM Board certification/board eligibility in internal medicine.

Pay

Salary grade based on experience, ranging from a minimum of $255,670.00 to a maximum of $534,220.00. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and internal pay comparison.

Schedule

The hospitalist will serve as the service attending Monday-Friday. Weekend duties will be shared with other faculty in the section of hematology/oncology throughout the course of the year.
