Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Technician - Full Time

About the role

Come join our Pharmacy team at Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England! This position supports pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy activities, including maintaining Pyxis stock levels by loading and refilling medications (including narcotics) for all in-patients. Prepares and compounds neonatal oral liquids and other extemporaneous products. Packages and distributes drugs and sterile products.

Responsibilities

• Perform general pharmacy duties by assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing duties, including deliveries, checking stock levels, and picking medications.
• Answer telephones, assist nurses with Pyxis trouble-shooting and drawer maintenance.
• Inspect assigned nursing units for proper drug storage, stability, and expiration dates, as well as maintaining proper drug reliability in the pharmacy.
• Maintain records of orders, process patient charges, and collect productivity statistics.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a hospital-based, community college, or military technician training program is preferable.
• Previous experience strongly preferred; IV and compounding experience preferred.
• Current state (CT) registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
• Pharmacy Technician I: PTCB National certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required within 1 year of hire.
• Pharmacy Technician II: PTCB National certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required.

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week on rotating shifts. Shift and weekend differentials apply.
