Inpatient/Emergency Department Psychiatrist | Coastal NC

About the Role

Novant Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team in an acute behavioral health setting. This position will float between our 62-bed adult inpatient unit and the emergency department, providing high-quality psychiatric services.

Responsibilities

• Care for assigned patients on the 62-bed adult inpatient unit.
• Provide psychiatric services in the emergency department, managing approximately 8-12 patients per day.
• Complete daily rounding and timely documentation for assigned patients.
• Adopt a collaborative approach with a multidisciplinary treatment team, including providers, nursing, therapy, and support staff.
• Supervise and mentor psychiatric residents and medical students.
• Supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
• Patient population: Primarily 18+, with potential to consult on patients under 18 when needed.
• Access to a full spectrum of care options, including ECT, for individuals with treatment-resistant mood and psychotic disorders.
• Opportunity to teach Novant Health Psychiatric Residents.

Schedule

• Option for either a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule or five days a week.

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
