About the role

This position involves assessing and monitoring nutritional status, providing medical nutrition therapy, coordinating with healthcare professionals, and educating patients and families.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and monitors nutritional status of patients/clients
  • Adjusts nutritional care as indicated based on scientific literature
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT)/counseling including assessment and education
  • Makes consults and referrals as needed
  • Communicates with physicians, nurses, and others to integrate nutrition into a total patient/client therapy program
  • Completes required documentation including nutritional care plans, assessments, consultations, nutrient intake analyses, and patient/client education
  • Assesses and documents the effectiveness of patient/client and family education
  • Develops, evaluates, and uses appropriate education materials
  • Develops and delivers in-services on selected topics to team members and other disciplines
  • Participates in basic skills orientation, training, and mentoring of team members and dietetic interns
  • Communicates with multidisciplinary departments on patient/client care and issues

Requirements

  • Licensed RegisteredDietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration and licensed by the affiliated state board
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or related field (if CDR registration eligibility is obtained prior to January 1, 2024), or minimum of master’s degree if initial CDR registration is obtained on or after January 1, 2024
  • No experience required

Skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and write on a continuous basis
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Motor skills for reaching, squatting, twisting, bending, walking, standing, and sitting

Pay

$28.55 - $42.85 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday, some weekend and holiday coverage
