Inpatient Coding Audit & Education Manager

About the role

Responsibilities

• Serve as the inpatient coding subject matter expert for complex coding scenarios.
• Lead and support a team of coding auditors while tracking audit performance and quality metrics.
• Provide education and feedback to coders and auditors based on audit findings.
• Perform mortality reviews and second-level coding reviews.
• Answer complex coding and compliance questions from coding staff.
• Develop and maintain coding policies, procedures, and educational materials.
• Support quality initiatives and ensure compliance with inpatient coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership on coding operations and process improvements.
• Maintain knowledge of Vizient, U.S. News & World Report quality rankings, and other industry benchmarks.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience, including trauma and academic medical center coding.
• Minimum of 2 years of coding leadership or supervisory experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRGs, inpatient coding guidelines, and compliance standards.
• Experience performing coder education, mentoring, and handling complex coding questions.
• Experience with mortality reviews and second-level reviews.
• Prior experience with RFPs, digital pre-bill processes, and coder education preferred.
• AHIMA certification required (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS preferred).
• Experience with Epic and 3M 360 CAC or EncoderPro preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Pay

$55.00 - $65.00 / Per hour (based on experience)

Schedule

Monday-Friday with a flexible start time between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM EST.

Additional Details

• Full-time remote position with occasional travel for leadership meetings.
• Training provided: Epic training followed by workflow and process training with departmental leadership.
• Virtual interviews scheduled over the next two weeks.
• Start date: ASAP.
