Inova Fairfax Hospital - Full-Time Medical Director - Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology at Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking a board-certified Pediatric/Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist to lead, grow, and provide services in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology at Inova Children’s Heart Center. The prospective candidate will join a collaborative team of 5 pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, 2 pediatric cardiac surgeons, 2 interventional cardiologists, and 2 pediatric electrophysiologists. The team averages 150 cardio-pulmonary bypass cases, 300 pediatric heart catheterizations, and 125 pediatric EP cases annually.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology service at Inova Children’s Heart Center
• Collaborate with a team of 60+ Anesthesiologists, most with fellowship training
• Participate in call rotation
• Work with medical students and residents (UVA and Walter Reed)
• Offer academic appointments through the University of Virginia

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited university medical school
• Completed ACGME residency training and subsequent fellowship in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology
• American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) certification in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology
• Licensure: Current or eligibility for an unrestricted Virginia state medical license and DEA
• Prior leadership experience

Qualifications

• Comprehensive experience in pediatric cardiac anesthesia
• Solo or care team model with CRNAs
