About the role

The Innovations Support Professional (ISP) with Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina's (BCH) Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Ministry supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a part-time position.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with advanced education preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow directions.
  • Must not have any substantiated findings of abuse or neglect on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities compatible with the responsibilities outlined in this job description.
  • A Christian spirit and lifestyle evident in daily actions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manifests a Christian spirit and lifestyle in daily actions.
  • Understands the agency's structure, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides services to meet the habilitation and personal care needs of individuals as outlined in their person-centered plan.
  • Supports and supervises the person's day-to-day activities and skills development.
  • Assists with activities of daily living and community activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality and proper documentation.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the resident's service plan and goals.
  • Cooperates with Direct Support Professionals to ensure the resident's safety and best interests.
  • Reports resident's progress and concerns to the Administrator.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and planning meetings.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with the supervisor.
  • Participates in staff training opportunities.
  • Represents BCH in a professional manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding each resident and their records.

Supervision

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Group Home Administrator or Qualified Professional.
  • Participates in new staff orientation and ongoing trainings.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with the supervisor.
  • Participates in performance evaluations.

Professionalism/Teamwork

  • Represents BCH in a positive manner.
  • Maintains professional standards.
  • Respects the rights of the total team and keeps other team members informed.

Policies and Procedures

  • Maintains all handbooks and support materials.
  • Ensures accurate recordkeeping.
  • Maintains proper administration of medications.
  • Participates in in-service training.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding each resident and their records.
  • Responds to grievances according to the agency's policies and procedures.

EQUIPMENT

  • Possess the ability to work with Microsoft applications.
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment.
  • Drive a 12 passenger van and get in and out of the van unassisted.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, parents, teachers, counselors, and team members.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS

  • Regular contact with colleagues in all departments, as well as with outside individuals and groups.
  • Contacts outside of the agency where proper handling of situations is of utmost importance.

MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITORY DEMAND

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to draw conclusions.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA

  • Complies with agency policies and procedures concerning confidentiality and HIPPA regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to drive and get in and out of a 12 passenger van unassisted, walk up and down stairs, sit, stand, reach, talk, and hear, and lift up to 15 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee would encounter in any home environment while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Duties required are performed in a group home setting.
  • The Innovations Support Professional may be asked to stay overnight on the premises of Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. if working also as a relief part-time caregiver.
