About the Role

The Inland Region Special Projects Coordinator/Senior Emergency Services Coordinator (SESC) position involves a perceptive understanding of state and federal regulations, adult training methods, project management, and emergency management concepts. The SESC will lead high-level special projects within the Inland Region, working independently in a fast-paced environment with competing and changing priorities. This role includes overseeing project progress, ensuring timely delivery of outcomes, coaching and mentoring team members, and identifying training needs. The SESC will develop and deliver training and presentations to the Inland team and other internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-level special projects within the Inland Region.
  • Oversee project progress and ensure timely delivery of outcomes.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Identify training needs and develop training programs.
  • Provide training and presentations to the Inland team and other internal/external partners.
  • Analyze situations and take effective action using initiative and good judgment.
  • Work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong public speaking and presentational skills.
  • Provide timely responses to internal and external partners and follow through on commitments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to emergency management.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Responsiveness to the needs of the public and internal/external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Professionalism and flexibility to succeed in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and participation in the DMV Pull Program.
  • Completion of Form 700 within 30 days of appointment due to Conflict of Interest (COI) requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with additional in-office days as required by business needs.
  • May be required to report to work outside normal hours (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) during emergencies.
  • Potential for irregular work hours, alternative work locations, and duties beyond the official position description during emergencies.
  • Extensive travel may be required with little advance notice, including relocation to emergency sites for weeks or months.
