About the role
We are seeking an experienced Injection Molding Process Technician to support day-to-day production operations in a plastics manufacturing environment. The technician will set up, operate, adjust, and troubleshoot injection molding processes to maintain consistent production, product quality, and equipment performance.
Schedule
- 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:15 PM, including approximately 45 minutes of daily overtime
- 3rd Shift: 10:30 PM – 7:15 AM, including approximately 45 minutes of daily overtime
Responsibilities
- Set up and adjust injection molding machines for production runs.
- Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, and product changeovers.
- Monitor molding processes and adjust process parameters to maintain consistent part quality.
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, material, and process-related issues.
- Identify and correct defects such as short shots, flash, warping, sink marks, and other molding issues.
- Inspect molded parts to ensure they meet quality specifications.
- Record and maintain process settings, production information, and quality data.
- Perform routine equipment checks and communicate maintenance requirements.
- Work closely with Quality and Maintenance teams to resolve production issues.
- Assist with training and supporting machine operators.
- Help reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and increase overall production efficiency.
- Follow all company safety, housekeeping, and manufacturing procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the molding operation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on plastic injection molding experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong injection molding setup and process troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve machine, tooling, and process issues.
- Knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, and equipment.
- Strong understanding of quality control and inspection practices.
- Ability to read and follow production, quality, and process documentation.
- Stable employment history.
- Ability to work the assigned 2nd or 3rd shift schedule.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with injection molding machine setup and changeovers.
- Experience optimizing molding parameters and cycle times.
- Knowledge of plastic materials and common molding defects.
- Experience working with molds/tooling and basic preventive maintenance.
- Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience.
