About the role
The Skilled Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment and support systems in an injection molding environment. This position requires a comprehensive set of maintenance skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and other related issues.
- Cook up and communicate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to schedule specialized repairs & maintenance activities.
- Manage inventory levels of maintenance supplies, spare parts, consumable items, and shop materials to ensure adequate stock and minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and urgent maintenance requests to minimize production interruptions.
- Install, modify, and repair equipment, machinery, and facility systems as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inventory documentation, and work order completion records.
- Aid with equipment installations, relocations, and facility improvement projects.
- Support safety initiatives by ensuring equipment and facility systems operate in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Work independently to prioritize maintenance activities, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in the injection molding manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency working with injection molding machines, temperature control units (oil and water), material drying equipment, and automation equipment.
- Demonstrated experience performing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and general facility maintenance tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and perform with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read technical manuals, equipment documentation, and maintenance procedures.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to respond effectively to urgent maintenance situations and changing priorities.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control circuits.
- Experience maintaining manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Technical training, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in one or more skilled trades.
- Experience coordinating with outside contractors and service providers.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Safety: Must be aware of and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Facility Mobility: Ability to move throughout the manufacturing facility, grounds, and maintenance areas to perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Hands-on Equipment Interaction: Must be able to frequently position oneself to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
- Technical Dexterity: Requires the use of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance instruments.
- Industrial Environment: Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, elevated noise levels, outdoor weather conditions, and other typical maintenance-related hazards.
- Shift and Schedule: Day shift (7AM-5PM), 8-10 hour shift depending on needs, Mon-Fri.
- Lifting Requirements: Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, equipment, tools, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds safely and efficiently.
Compensation and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $28-34/hr, depending on experience.

Additional Information
- Job Type: Full-time.

- The company is moving its facilities completely from Wood Dale to Bloomingdale by end of 2026.
