About the role

Assists Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Nurses. Prepares examination rooms, patients for examinations, and processes charts. Supports Office Professionals with clerical duties.

Responsibilities

• Completes and records the following tasks in the EMR:
  • Patient vital signs
  • Spirometry readings
  • Administers EKGs
  • Assists with office procedures
  • Administers injections and vaccines
  • Draws and processes blood and lab specimens
  • Renders basic first aid when necessary
  • Ensures all data elements are captured in each patient visit
• Assists physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses with patient examinations.
• Manages supplies (ordering and stocking examination rooms/clinic area), sterilizes instruments, and cleans examination rooms.
• Prepares patient information and processes related paperwork.
• Follows guidelines and procedures set by the Medical Director and the CHS Quality Assurance (QA) Team.
• Handles direct patient communications regarding:
  • Lab results
  • Future appointments
  • Hospital admissions
  • Referral appointments
• Answers patient questions or directs them to the proper resources, whether in person or over the phone.
• May serve on committees, work groups, or other assigned bodies.
• Performs clerical duties, including filing, as needed.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant Program preferred.
• Completion of competency skills checklist prior to performing tasks independently.
• Certification from an Accredited CMA program is required.

Skills

• Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.
• Ability to assess and chart accurate information using medical equipment.
• Ability to provide basic nursing care.
• Knowledge of medical field, terminology, and nursing procedures.
• Clerical skills.

Pay

$15.75–$22.00 per hour
