Infusion Nurse-Independent Contractor

About the Role

AOM Infusion is seeking an Infusion Nurse, Independent Contractor based in the Beaumont, TX area. This role involves providing primary patient care, education, and coordination with AOM Infusion’s in-house RN staff to develop, implement, and revise patient care plans.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document the patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
• Perform physical assessments consistent with nursing practice standards and report findings to the patient’s physician and in-house RN staff.
• Collaborate with in-house RN staff to design and implement nursing care plans aligned with physician orders and treatment plans.
• Identify and report changes in the patient’s condition requiring adjustments to the care plan.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education on healthcare needs, prescribed therapy, infection control, and disaster planning.
• Insert, maintain, and assess all types of intravenous access devices, reporting issues to in-house RN staff for supply adjustments and documentation.
• Demonstrate competence in performing treatments as per the physician’s plan of care.
• Coordinate patient care needs with other healthcare team members.
• Maintain high standards of nursing care and adhere to AOM Infusion policies and procedures.
• Monitor and maintain patient supply inventory, reporting needs or overstocking to the pharmacy department.
• Maintain emergency back-up supplies for infection control and emergency care (e.g., CPR valved mask).
• Clean and test infusion pumps between patient uses, documenting procedures on the Pump Maintenance Log.
• Complete all patient care documentation electronically after each visit and obtain patient signatures.
• Adhere to universal precautions, aseptic technique, and infection control guidelines.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and AOM Infusion policies.
• Complete charting as per AOM documentation policy within required timeframes.
• Report adverse events or patient incidents to in-house RN staff and document via Unusual Occurrence Report.
• Report any suspected breaches of regulatory requirements or AOM Infusion policies to the Compliance Officer or Committee.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed and registered as a registered nurse in the states where practicing.
• Current CPR certification.
• At least one year of experience as a registered nurse, preferably in a home infusion setting.
• For pediatric care: at least one year of pediatric nursing experience, preferably in home infusion, or the ability to become competent in pediatric practices.
• Knowledge and experience managing infusion access devices (e.g., peripheral lines, PICC lines, central venous catheters, implantable ports).
• Free from communicable diseases, illnesses, or injuries that may interfere with job performance.
• Flexible work schedule; availability to address after-hours patient care needs when possible.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Intermittent visits based on nurse’s availability.
