About the Role

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in the Outpatient Infusion area. Work locations include the Main Campus in Boston, 850 Boylston in Chestnut Hill, and other off-site locations as determined by clinical and staffing needs. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide excellent care to patients and families in a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a plan of care for assigned patients with varying acuity.
• Set priorities and maintain continuity through clear and concise communication (verbal and written).
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development for adult, geriatric, and neonatal patients (where applicable).
• Document patient care clearly, completely, and concisely in compliance with nursing documentation standards.
• Develop comprehensive care, educational, and discharge plans utilizing appropriate resources.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care and revise as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
• Participate in unit-based and organizational quality management and improvement programs.
• Provide a safe environment for patients, staff, family, and visitors.
• Administer medication safely and perform nursing procedures efficiently.
• Utilize equipment safely and demonstrate awareness of infection risks and universal precautions.
• Interact professionally with patients, families, and colleagues, collaborating with other disciplines.
• Uphold the A.N.A. code of ethics and act as a role model for staff.
• Participate in determining and implementing unit goals and objectives.
• Serve on unit-based and organizational committees and disseminate information to peers.
• Assume responsibility for personal and professional growth through identification of learning needs.
• Share knowledge and experience with colleagues and participate in educational programs.
• Utilize nursing research findings in clinical practice and support research endeavors.
• Manage time and materials effectively to support cost-effective healthcare delivery.
• Assess patient acuity accurately for staffing, transfers, and assignments.
• Participate in the orientation of new staff, students, and others as appropriate.
• Provide input into the clinical evaluation of other staff.
• Assume responsibility for the unit in the absence of leadership personnel.
• Adhere to hospital and nursing policies and recommend changes through appropriate channels.
• Demonstrate flexibility in relation to patient assignments, shift assignments, or work schedules.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts.
• For newly licensed nurses, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
• Current or recent (within 3 years) experience with proficient IV skills, including insertion.
• Current or recent (within 3 years) experience with Central Lines, including accessing skills.
• Ambulatory or procedural nursing experience required.
• One year of current or recent (within 3 years) Ambulatory or procedural Infusion Center experience required.
• Ambulatory EPIC experience preferred.

• Effective skills in teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.

Working Conditions

Works in a variety of patient care environments with potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials such as chemotherapeutic agents, radioisotopes, and radiation. The role entails walking and lifting, with a maximum weight limit of 35 lbs. for lifting, as per the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibility

Functionally responsible for the supervision of other RNs, technical, and support personnel. Membership in professional organizations is recommended, and certification in a specialty area is encouraged. Must be able to work weekend rotation per MNA contract.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $41.71 - $105.65.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week.
• Variable, rotating shift.
