Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional and empathetic care to patients while administering physician-ordered chemotherapy/biotherapy regimens.
  • Travel to all 4 locations: North Charleston, Summerville, Mount Pleasant, and West Ashley.
  • Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisors or physicians of patient conditions, drug reactions, treatments, and incidents.
  • Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients and their families; provide blankets, snacks, and beverages.
  • Collaborate with physicians and RNs to deliver chemotherapy regimens according to physician orders.
  • Practice safe administration of infusions, injections, and transfusions.
  • Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess patient condition.
  • Act as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up, including coordination with providers, social work, dietitians, integrative medicine, pharmacy, navigators, laboratory, radiation therapy, genetics, and clinical research.
  • Assist with administering shots and phlebotomy as required.
  • Review all chemotherapy regimens before delivering to patients.
  • Manage medical and supply stock, including putting away deliveries.
  • Check infusion regimens for accuracy and communicate any concerns to the clinical care team.
  • Participate in continuing education, in-service, and department trainings as required.
  • Manage a caseload of patients receiving a variety of infusion therapies on an outpatient basis.
  • Maintain RN license as required by the State.
  • Practice patient confidentiality at all times, including abiding by HIPAA requirements.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support our mission.

Requirements

  • Current RN license through the State of South Carolina.
  • Previous experience working in a Hematology and Oncology office preferred.
  • Previous experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system required.
