About the role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Infrastructure Technical Program Manager to support and deploy one of the world's largest and most complex telecommunication networks. The role is responsible for the execution of a strategic plan to improve business processes and deploy hyper-scaled cloud infrastructure, perform pre/post-inspections for design validation, create quality control systems, and pilot stakeholder communication for delivery schedules.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the GCID-FD Long Haul Deployment Manager and updates regularly with Global Senior Management.
- Serves as a key member of the GCID-FD team, driving overall Network Infrastructure strategy.
- Vendor management to deploy on time, measure progress, and rate through quality Key Performance Indicators.
- Develops a focused quality management program that tracks defects, mitigates risks, standardizes root cause analysis, and implements key performance measures to rate vendor success.
- Establishes and utilizes reporting mechanisms and provides regular progress updates on program deployment to management and stakeholders.
- Periodically reports on the overall network development program status across the assigned region.
- Manages and tracks approved network plans with internal customers and stakeholders such as technical business developers or construction vendors until the infrastructure is in service.
- Manages multiple competing cross-functional projects/programs simultaneously, some on a global scale.
- Interacts with engineers, technicians, vendors, and senior management on a daily basis.
- Audits completed construction work, reviews fiber test results, and hands off completed delivery to internal customers.
- Runs meetings, creates and maintains timelines, and keeps large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles.
- Anticipates bottlenecks, manages risk and escalations, and balances business needs versus technical constraints.
- Collaborates with engineers, technicians, vendors, and senior management on a daily basis.
- Coordinates access and approvals to security-regulated sites.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to infrastructure (network, data center, hardware, software)
- Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds
