Infrastructure Systems Administrator

About the role

The Infrastructure Systems Administrator is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core localized infrastructure that supports the department's strategic goals. This includes performing complex technical work involving the administration of on-premises server hardware, virtualization platforms, enterprise storage (SAN), and hybrid identity systems.

Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for executing the duties and responsibilities listed below and all other duties as assigned. Essential duties include:

• Server, Virtualization & Enterprise Storage Management (30%): Administer and maintain on-premise Windows Servers, high-availability Hyper-V virtualization platforms, and Local Storage Area Networks (SAN).
• Active Directory & Identity Lifecycle Management (30%): Administer the localized Active Directory forest, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
• Group Policy & Infrastructure Automation (15%): Develop, test, and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security policies and configure user/computer settings.
• Helpdesk & Endpoint Management (15%): Assist helpdesk operations in ticket response and resolution and serve as a final Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical failures.
• Asset Management, Documentation & MOU Adherence (5%): Maintain an accurate inventory of all physical infrastructure assets and create and update detailed technical manuals, network topology diagrams, and disaster recovery playbooks.

Requirements

Two (2) relevant enterprise infrastructure certifications or a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with one certification and experience. Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering, data center management, or advanced systems administration.

Qualifications

• Strong, hands-on experience designing, building, and managing Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), including localized forests, DNS, DHCP, and complex Group Policy architecture.
• Proficiency in administering, tuning, and maintaining enterprise server virtualization platforms (specifically Microsoft Hyper-V).
• Hands-on experience configuring and managing Enterprise Storage Area Networks (SAN), including LUN provisioning, Multipath I/O (MPIO), and iSCSI network traffic.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching principles required to support interconnected datacenter operations.

Skills

• Expert knowledge of physical server hardware lifecycle management, including safe physical racking, structured cabling, and configuring out-of-band management interfaces.
• Working technical knowledge of modern datacenter backup and disaster recovery methodologies, including block-level SAN snapshots and the 3-2-1 backup rule.
• Skilled in serving as the ultimate Tier 3 escalation point, rapidly diagnosing severe server, storage, or network failures that exceed Tier 1/2 helpdesk capabilities.

Work Environment

Some work may involve a combination of both office and field environments. Physical demands include sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components, and lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects.
