As an Infrastructure Engineer Sr. within PNC’s technology organization, you can be based in Strongsville OH, Pittsburgh PA, or Phoenix AZ. This role is part of PNC’s Proofpoint team, where you will work with skilled engineers to monitor the health and functionality of the Proofpoint infrastructure. In partnership with the PNC Security team, you will assist with responding to security events, system anomalies, and system issues. Deep knowledge of Proofpoint on-premises and cloud platforms, SKIM/SPF/DMARC, SMTP and related diagnostics, as well as complex email flow configurations is required. Proofpoint certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports enterprise-scale email infrastructure (60k+ mailboxes, 7MM emails per day).
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of email infrastructure components and diagnostics.
  • Functions as messaging SME and technical lead for assigned projects.
  • Develops and maintains process workflow and infrastructure architectural diagrams/documentation.
  • Ensures adherence to enterprise change and risk control management standards.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation schedule for critical after-hours support.
  • Provides expertise on platform engineering, overseeing the team's effort to meet customer needs.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains technology solutions aligned with business strategies and objectives.
  • Develops software components and hardware for complex projects.
  • Ensures deliverables are secure, scalable, and reliable through quality improvement efforts.
  • Communicates with customers to integrate their needs with development, meeting business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience (including military service).
  • Typically requires 5+ years of industry-relevant experience.
  • Deep knowledge of Proofpoint on-premises and cloud platforms, SKIM/SPF/DMARC, SMTP, and related diagnostics.
  • Experience with complex email flow configurations.
  • Proofpoint certifications are preferred.

Pay

Base Salary: $91,000.00 – $185,900.00. Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible, with payment based on company, business, and/or individual performance.
