Infrastructure Engineer - Data Center Networking

Responsibilities

  • Works across a large breadth of technologies
  • Frees teams to focus on hands-on prototyping, research efforts, and Proof of Concepts (POCs)
  • Collaborates with ET product teams to understand and evaluate technical requirements
  • Works closely with IEOM Service Delivery teams and a Managed Service Provider (MSP) to evaluate and validate proposed technical solutions and changes
  • Works closely with IEOM Area Level Architecture to identify areas of improvement, changes to architectural standards, and future state capability strategies
  • Works with the Project Support Office (PSO) as technical resources in validation of project estimates and requirements or as technical resources on defined projects
  • Focuses on Network Engineering – specifically Data Center LAN, Data Center WAN, Load Balancing, and DNS

Qualifications

  • Ability to be a result-driven self-starter who enjoys researching, hands-on proof-of-concept work, and learning new tools
  • Ability to identify and develop new technical solutions with guidance
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues
  • Effective collaboration skills and communication skills to work across team(s), document research/POC findings/architectural decisions, and showcase work
  • Knowledge of security principles and governance/risk processes
  • Ability to work with vendors and establish professional relationships
  • Ability to represent State Farm at various conferences and council meetings

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to foster innovation, encourage diversity of thought, and incorporate new ideas
  • Proficiencies in Data Center LAN, F5 load balancing, DNS, or Data Center WAN
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools to ensure system performance and availability
  • Certifications in network technologies or infrastructure-related certifications

Pay

Potential starting salary range: $97,000.00 - $140,000.00
Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary

Schedule

Hybrid Work arrangement: A "Hybrid" position means selected candidates will be assigned to a facility and will spend some time working both in office and from their home.
