About the role
You’ll develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and estimate-at-completion projections throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll monitor project expenditures and analyze budget performance against approved funding. You’ll prepare routine cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and executive project financial summaries. You’ll support project managers with cost forecasting, contingency management, and financial decision-making. You’ll evaluate project trends, change orders, and potential cost impacts to identify risks and opportunities. You’ll assist in the preparation and review of project authorization packages, budget revisions, and funding requests. You’ll support project controls activities by integrating cost and schedule information to improve forecasting accuracy. You’ll maintain project cost documentation and ensure compliance with client financial controls and governance requirements. You’ll participate in project meetings and communicate cost performance, financial risks, and recommended corrective actions. You’ll promote continuous improvement of cost management processes, reporting, and project controls practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and estimate-at-completion projections throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain project cost documentation and ensure compliance with client financial controls and governance requirements.
- Support project managers with cost forecasting, contingency management, and financial decision-making.
- Evaluate project trends, change orders, and potential cost impacts to identify risks and opportunities.
- Prepare routine cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and executive project financial summaries.
- Assist in the preparation and review of project authorization packages, budget revisions, and funding requests.
- Support project controls activities by integrating cost and schedule information to improve forecasting accuracy.
- Communicate cost performance, financial risks, and recommended corrective actions to project leadership.
- Promote continuous improvement of cost management processes, reporting, and project controls practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business-related field or six (6) years of equivalent related work experience, in addition to the minimum experience requirement, may be substituted for a degree.
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience in project cost analysis, project controls, or capital project financial management supporting utility or large infrastructure capital projects.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, change management, and estimate-at-completion methodologies.
- Experience interpreting project financial information and communicating cost performance to project leadership.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Skills
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience supporting electric transmission and distribution capital programs with an EPC firm.
- Experience with SAP, Maximo, Power BI, Primavera P6, Cognos, or similar enterprise project controls systems.
- Familiarity with utility capital governance processes and financial controls.
- Professional certifications such as AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP), AACE Certified Cost Technician (CCT), or other relevant project controls certifications are preferred.
