About the role

The role involves implementing the Energy Isolation Program using SPS-101 standards and guiding its implementation. Key responsibilities include establishing and managing an Energy Isolation assurance process, participating in High-Risk Activity planning meetings, ensuring the approval process for proposed Energy Isolation procedures, collaborating with the Authorizing Energy Marshal, reviewing Statements of Work, Methods of Procedure, and Scripts to identify all energy sources, determining the need for group or individual Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and helping establish a centralized LOTO system across site entities, verifying personnel qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance, delegating qualified alternates to assume responsibilities during multi-shift or peak energization periods, and ensuring alignment with SPS-101 guidelines and maintaining communication with site teams.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Energy Isolation Program using SPS-101 standards and guidebooks as the foundational framework.
  • Establish and manage an Energy Isolation assurance process, addressing gaps identified during audits.
  • Participate in High-Risk Activity planning meetings related to energy isolation procedures.
  • Ensure the approval process for proposed Energy Isolation procedures is properly implemented.
  • Collaborate with the Authorizing Energy Marshal to develop and manage the Energy Isolation Permit process.
  • Review Statements of Work, Methods of Procedure, and Scripts to identify all energy sources.
  • Determine the need for group or individual LOTO and help establish a centralized LOTO system across site entities.
  • Verify personnel qualifications, training, and PPE compliance for those performing energy isolation tasks.
  • Delegate qualified alternates to assume responsibilities during multi-shift or peak energization periods.
  • Ensure alignment with SPS-101 guidelines and maintain communication with site teams to support safe energy isolation practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in data center construction and commissioning standards and practices. Additional requirements include project management experience, familiarity with multiple sources of energy in data centers, team player skills, proven ability to interact with teams and implement improvements, good ability to communicate complex technical solutions and concepts, ability to audit site practices against written standards as part of an assurance role, and strong ability to interpret line drawings and system redundancies to ensure the design of LOTO systems is 100% effective.
