INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I
This is a 12-month limited-term position and may be extended to a maximum of 24-months and/or may become permanent based on operational needs.
About the role
The Information Systems Division (ISD) of the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking critical thinkers with project management experience working with internal and external stakeholders for large multi-year IT projects. The IT FMS Project Coordinator will provide administrative support and detailed reporting throughout the contract life cycle of FMS projects in the CDSS Project Oversight & Strategic Technology Branch, assisting the Project Manager to lead a systematic approach to project oversight.
You will closely interact with various levels of ISD leadership, IT staff, customers, vendors, and subject matter experts throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC). The goal of the SDLC model is to deliver high-quality, maintainable software that meets contract deliverables on time and on budget. You will monitor and manage executed contracts during the development life cycle, draft contract documents, analyze contract issues, and facilitate the evaluation of IT project progress. You may also contribute to procurement processes such as Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Offer (RFO), and contract amendments.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support and detailed reporting throughout the contract life cycle of FMS projects.
- Assist the Project Manager in leading a systematic approach to project oversight.
- Monitor and manage executed contracts during the software development life cycle.
- Draft and analyze contract documents and issues.
- Facilitate the evaluation of IT project progress.
- Contribute to procurement processes, including RFP, RFO, and contract amendments.
- Collaborate with IT partners, leadership, vendors, and subject matter experts to ensure project success.
Requirements
- Project management experience working with internal and external stakeholders for large multi-year IT projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with IT partners to complete large IT projects on time and within budget.
- Background investigation clearance is required prior to hiring.
- Fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
- Complete and accurate employment history on the application form (STD 678). Resumes will not substitute for employment history.
- If meeting minimum qualifications with education, unofficial transcripts must be included for verification. Official transcripts may be required if selected.
- Candidates residing outside California must provide proof of residence in California prior to appointment.
Pay
- Classification A: $6,513.00 - $8,729.00 per month
- Classification B: $7,163.00 - $9,599.00 per month
- Classification C: $7,864.00 - $10,537.00 per month
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
Schedule
- Full-time, 12-month limited-term position (may be extended or become permanent).
- Hybrid work location in Sacramento County.
