Responsibilities

  • Perform software (in-house and 3rd party) code configurations and implementations.
  • Perform DB code review and deployments ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Facilitate the communication, scheduling, and coordination of system patches and maintenance deployed in the NYSIF environment.
  • Assist with the governance of the NYSIF Change Management process and supporting tools.
  • Assist with the implementation and facilitation of the software asset management process.
  • Work with supervisors to develop and maintain procedures and standards for existing processes.
  • Complete duties, assignments, and other tasks in a timely, professional, and accurate manner.
  • Fulfill user requirements, resolve incidents, and meet operational needs.
  • Work with ITS teams to enhance and automate the service management experience to develop clearly defined business requirements.
  • Participate in the technical evaluation of new technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processing to reduce manual efforts.
  • Troubleshoot and research configuration and deployment issues.
  • Be flexible to work outside normal business hours to implement changes as CCM has an on-call schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

For NY HELPS appointment:

  • NYSIF employee with one year of permanent, competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1; OR
  • Bachelor’s or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; OR
  • Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information technology; OR
  • 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND one year of experience in information technology; OR
  • Two years of experience in information technology.

Note: Certain math and business courses, although taken as part of a computer science curriculum, are not counted toward the 15 semester credit hours.

For competitive appointment list appointment:

  • Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title.

For transfer:

  • Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law.
  • Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades.
  • Eligible titles include, but are not limited to: Administrative Specialist 1; Contract Management Specialist 2; Human Resources Specialist 1.

For reinstatement:

  • Candidates who have previously held the title, or a transferable title, may be eligible for consideration for reinstatement.

For 55b/55c Program appointment:

  • This position may be designated 55b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-5 years’ experience in Windows Server Administration (Windows Server 2019 knowledge is a plus).
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Windows IIS/Microsoft IIS.
  • 3 months to less than a year experience using PL/SQL Developer, Oracle, or Ansible.
  • Knowledge in the following areas is a plus: ASP.NET/ASP.NET Core MVC Core, YAML, Microsoft CI/CD DevOps Tools.
