Information Technology Manager

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information and Technology, is seeking an experienced IT leader to oversee multiple area-wide IT End User Operations and ensure reliable, effective technology services supporting the VA mission and the Veterans we serve.

About the role

As an Area Manager, you will lead IT operations and teams while providing technical direction across a complex and distributed computing environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and/or provide technical guidance to improve IT programs and computing environments, including evaluating operational needs and identifying opportunities to improve IT services and performance.
• Provide direction, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to IT staff, helping develop technical and leadership capabilities across the organization.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve root causes of problems that degrade the delivery of essential IT services, applying sound judgment and problem-solving skills to complex operational issues.
• Use technical expertise to analyze options and make recommendations involving applications, communications, networks, and other IT technologies.
• Direct, review, and participate in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of automated information systems and technical architectures.
• Lead major projects involving IT program performance, organizational effectiveness, process improvement, and mission performance.
• Manage human, financial, and acquisition resources in support of area-wide IT operations.
• Develop and implement strategies that improve IT service delivery, operational performance, customer service, and organizational effectiveness.

Pay

Grade: GS-13
Salary: $106,437–$138,370 per year, subject to applicable locality pay

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Travel: Up to 25% may be required
Telework: Ad hoc telework may be authorized at management discretion
Supervisory: Yes
U.S. citizenship is required

Appointment: Permanent, Full-Time
