Position Description

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking temporary interns with a minimum of 10 hours/week and a maximum of 35 hours/week. Our internships may offer flexibility in allowing some remote work; however, candidates must be willing to be on-site in Annapolis, Maryland. All work hours must be done Monday - Friday during standard business hours. Currently filling for Fall 2026.

Internship Opportunities

  • Enterprise Application Solutions (EAS): Develop and maintain software using industry-standard best practices, gain experience with the entire software development lifecycle, and support County business units with custom-developed web-based and mobile software.

  • Help Desk Internship: Turn classroom knowledge into practical application in the workplace, learn how to identify and replace the current tech refresh cycle for county PCs, and search for lower cost and more effective technology solutions.

  • Administrative Internship: Get hands-on experience working in an Information Technology environment and gain administrative/clerical experience.

  • Cyber Security Internship: Work directly with the Anne Arundel County cybersecurity officer, assist in the development of security policies and procedures, conduct security controls assessments, validate system configurations, identify security weaknesses, perform vulnerability scans, and report findings to management.

  • Project Management: Assist project managers with all aspects of projects from initiation to implementation, build workflows, process models, and business cases, monitor schedules, and collect status reports.

  • Telecommunications: Learn about and assist in the performance of the support functions for the Telecommunications process, including customer service and data management, and assist with the deployment of the new VOIP phone system.

Qualifications

  • Telecommunications: Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or related field, with an interest or familiarity with the technologies mentioned in the specific program.

  • Minimum Qualifications: A cumulative GPA of a 3.0+.
