About the Research

This study examines the effectiveness and influence of new information technology on the responsiveness of customer service employees within a medium-sized Canadian company. The objective is to assess how contemporary technology enhances the efficiency of customer service responses, delivering maximum benefit in minimal time.

Methodology

The research data was collected from five employees and managers at an electronics company located in Western Canada. All participants received forms and questions via email, and responses were returned in the same manner. The method involved gathering answers to ten open-ended qualitative questions focused on interactions between customer service employees and clients. Qualitative analysis was used to gain a deeper understanding of how modern technology impacts medium-sized companies.

Findings

  • Deployment of the information technology system significantly boosts the responsiveness of customer service employees.
  • Technology enables real-time issue resolution.
  • Faster access to consumer information is facilitated.
  • Communication routes are simplified.
  • Customer satisfaction improves due to more effective responses to requests and complaints.

Recommendations

It is recommended that all individuals involved in customer service receive the necessary training to fully leverage the benefits of technology.
