Information Systems Security Officer, Level 3

About the role
We are seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support and strengthen the security posture of mission-critical systems. In this role, you’ll help implement and enforce information systems security policies and standards, maintain the operational security posture of assigned systems, and assist with day-to-day security operations. You will evaluate security solutions for classified information, perform vulnerability and risk assessments in support of certification and accreditation, and manage configuration changes while assessing their security impact. You’ll prepare and review documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, Certification & Accreditation (C&A) packages, and Security Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs), and support security authorization activities under the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Security Clearance Requirements
This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to senior ISSOs for implementing and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of documentation.
- Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information.
- Assist with configuration management (CM) for information system security software, hardware, and firmware.
- Maintain records on workstations, servers, routers, firewalls, intelligent hubs, and network switches, including system upgrades.
- Propose, coordinate, implement, and enforce information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
- Develop and maintain documentation for Certification & Accreditation (C&A) in accordance with ODNI and DoD policies.
- Provide configuration management for security-relevant information system software, hardware, and firmware.
- Develop system security policy and ensure compliance.
- Maintain operational security posture for an information system or program.
- Support the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in maintaining the appropriate operational IA posture for a system, program, or enclave.
- Develop and update the system security plan and other IA documentation.
- Assist with the management of security aspects of the information system and perform day-to-day security operations.
- Administer the user identification and authentication mechanism of the Information System (IS).
- Obtain C&A for ISs under their purview.
- Provide support for a program, organization, system, or enclave’s information assurance program.
- Plan and coordinate the IT security programs and policies.
- Manage and control changes to the system and assess the security impact of those changes.
- Serve as the Approval Authority for ISs under their control.
- Provide daily oversight and direction to contractor ISSOs.
- Serve as an ISSM.
- Interact with customers, IT staff, and high-level corporate officers to define and achieve required IA objectives.
Requirements
- Fifteen (15) years of experience as an ISSO on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Experience must include at least three (3) of the following areas: knowledge of current security tools, hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols, and encryption techniques/tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of additional ISSO experience may be substituted for the degree.
- DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I or higher.

Pay
Salary range: $175,700 to $190,700 per year. Starting salary is based on minimum education and years of experience and increases based on education and/or experience.
