Responsibilities
- Support the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, development, and maintenance of SimIS network and computer systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
- Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the cybersecurity infrastructure and on assigned projects.
- Ensure cybersecurity compliance and IT infrastructure integrity in accordance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) NIST 800 series Special Publications.
- Install new or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements to support IT infrastructure or asset management applications.
- Perform backup operations and system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, network, server, and cloud resources, systems, and key processes; review system and application logs; and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions, perform file archival and purge as necessary, and create, change, and delete user accounts as required.
- Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
- Configure or add new services as necessary and upgrade and configure system software that supports IT infrastructure applications or asset management applications per project or operational needs.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration and cybersecurity tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
- Develop and train artificial intelligence tools to help automate processes for cybersecurity tool development. Duties include designing and programming artificial intelligence systems, testing machine learning tools, and resolving issues with algorithms and data to ensure the system works correctly.
- Collect and analyze large amounts of data to identify trends, ambiguities, and inconsistencies and evaluate machine learning processes to enhance automation.
- Program and manage AI software utilizing large amounts of data, including managing data, project infrastructure, and supporting the development of effective and efficient AI software architecture.
- Develop and deploy AI algorithms with an understanding of how artificial intelligence works.
- Collaborate with other team members to establish goals for AI processes.
- Develop products as part of a balanced Agile development team to include Product Manager, Product Owner, engineers, developers, cyber specialists, and scientists, and drive technical feasibility for the product backlog.
- Work with other IS personnel and teams to ensure SimIS computer systems and networks remain secure and reliable, monitor network availability, and collect/present data to enhance security and reliability and provide situational awareness.
- Support the development and deployment of performance-enhancing measures throughout the enterprise infrastructure.
- Make hardware/software recommendations to resolve user-side issues, replacing or upgrading servers, routers, switches, phone systems, printers, or shifting databases to new software to improve network security, reliability, or speed.
- Work with team members to design and oversee server-side elements of SimIS network infrastructure, including installing network-wide malware protection software, configuring firewalls, and configuring databases and access on the back end.
- Ensure all SimIS IS assets are tracked and accounted for and maintain an inventory and configuration management baseline for equipment and software.
- Ensure data remains intact, secure, and accessible in case of system crashes by supporting data backups and recovery.
- Conduct troubleshooting, requiring both technical and creative problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Experience and knowledge with various AI tools such as Tabnine, GitHub Copilot, CHATGBT, Google Bard, Perplexity AI, Claude, Cursor AI, Softr, Microsoft Power Apps, Codeium, Amazon CodeWhisperer, Quickbase, Airtable Cobuilder, Databutton, and TensorFlow are desired.
- Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800 series standards and an ability to work with other team members to develop requirements from policies and standards and create actionable plans for implementation.
- Certifications in Security+ or other related areas are highly desirable.
- Positive, collaborative, and dedicated team player who provides IT network/systems administration subject matter expertise and a willingness to learn for successfully completing complex tasks.
- Fluent in English with outstanding written (prose, editing, and presentation) and oral communication skills, especially the ability to articulate complex strategic situations and strategies and effectively communicate to audiences with and without IS experience.
- Must be working on a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field, such as computer science/engineering, cybersecurity, mathematics, statistics, or data science.
- A junior or senior in college with experience as a cybersecurity/IS specialist/engineer is highly desired.
Schedule
This position is in-person and requires your presence at our Suffolk office. The role does not extend into hybrid or remote work arrangements.
