About the role

The AI Specialist (Operations) Intern will support the exploration, development, and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that improve business processes, data analysis, and decision-making. This role offers firsthand experience working with AI tools, data analytics, and process automation while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This Internship is Hybrid, based in Niles, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in researching, evaluating, and testing AI technologies and tools.
  • Support the development of AI-powered solutions, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate project findings.
  • Document AI use cases, workflows, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and gather feedback.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Generative AI concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are important.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, or data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, OpenAI, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience working with large datasets and analytics projects.

Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Shure will not sponsor applicants for this position for work visas.

Schedule

Summer 2027. Twelve-week program offered to undergraduate and graduate students. Work arrangements include onsite in Niles, IL, or fully remote in the US.

Pay

Competitive hourly rate ranging from $23–$43 per hour based on job function and year completed in school. Interns who relocate to Illinois for onsite internships receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses.
