Information System Security Officer III
About the role
The ISSO III ensures an information system maintains an appropriate security posture, managing aspects such as physical/environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training. Working closely with the ISM and ISO, the ISSO III monitors the system and its environment, develops and updates authorization documentation, and implements configuration management across authorization boundaries. Supporting DoD Special Access Programs (SAPs), the role provides daily support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities. Additional duties include assisting the ISM, preparing and reviewing authorization packages, enforcing procedures for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media, and monitoring system recovery to ensure security measures are restored and functioning correctly.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and enact required security changes, ensuring compliance with published policies.
- Conduct cybersecurity vulnerability and threat analysis.
- Support cyber incident response by isolating potentially affected assets, initiating investigation and data collection, and providing status updates/reporting.
- Assist the ISM.
- Prepare and review authorization packages.
- Enforce procedures for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media.
- Maintain system recovery to ensure security measures are restored and functioning correctly.
Requirements
- Target Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, communications systems management, or an equivalent STEM degree from an accredited college or university.
- Target Experience: Six (6) years of experience coordinating and enacting required security changes, with in various levels of an organization, ensuring compliance with published policies; conducting cybersecurity vulnerability and threat analysis; and supporting cyber incident response by isolating potentially effected assets, initial investigation and data collection, through status updates/reporting.
- Navy experience preferred!
- Must have at least one of the following certifications:
- CAP, CASP+ CE
- CISM
- CISSP (or Associate)
- GSLC
- CCISO
- HCISPP
Qualifications
- An Operating System (OS) / Computing Environment (CE) level certification is required.
Skills
- Knowledge of information security principles and practices.
- Ability to coordinate and implement security changes.
- Experience with cybersecurity vulnerability and threat analysis.
- Experience with cyber incident response.
- Experience with authorization documentation and configuration management.
- Experience with clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media.
- Experience with system recovery and security restoration.
