About the role

The Information Security Coordinator will lead our Information Security Management System (ISMS) and drive a culture of security, compliance and continual improvement. This role is responsible for maintaining ISO 27001 certification, managing information security risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading audits, and providing expert guidance to stakeholders, clients and senior leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s security posture, supporting business growth and enabling the secure adoption of new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the organisation’s Information Security Management System (ISMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 27001 and supporting integrated management standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Act as the organisation’s information security expert, providing guidance, leadership and assurance across all business functions.
  • Develop and manage information security risk, compliance and governance frameworks, including GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, maintain certification standards, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Develop, implement and enhance security policies, procedures and controls, aligned to recognised frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
  • Drive security awareness, training and best practice adoption to foster a strong security-focused culture throughout the business.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders on information security matters, supporting customer assurance activities and pre-sales requirements.
  • Monitor security performance, define KPIs and provide regular reporting on risk, compliance and security posture to senior leadership.
  • Lead the response to security incidents, ensuring effective investigation, reporting, corrective actions and business continuity alignment.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, supporting secure digital transformation, operational efficiency and the ongoing development of the wider management system.

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Lead Auditor, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of industrial cyber security standards, particularly IEC 62443.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in information security, cyber security, or Information Security Management System (ISMS) management.
  • Strong expertise in implementing, maintaining and auditing ISO 27001 management systems.
  • Demonstrable experience leading audits, certification processes and compliance activities.
  • Sound understanding of GDPR, data protection legislation, information governance, and information security best practices.
  • Good technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, networks and security controls.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement and enhance security policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.
  • Eligible and authorised to work in the UK.
