About the role

The mission of the Administration team is to enable the people and science of the Allen Institute. We connect teams, steward resources, and build strong systems that give our accelerators the stability and flexibility to pursue ambitious questions, collaborate across disciplines, and share their work openly. We're seeking an Information Security Analyst to lead incident and vulnerability management, provide security recommendations for Allen Institute daily operations, and collaborate with administrative and scientific units on InfoSec initiatives. If you are a motivated security-focused technical individual, we would love to speak with you. You will report to the IT Business Operations Manager, able to help shape the direction of security efforts across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Review our security monitoring platform and respond to network and endpoint events and escalate as needed
  • Understand vulnerabilities and resolve them in partnership with other organizational teams
  • Perform actions required to maintain security and compliance standards
  • Run forensic examinations on desktop and mobile platforms
  • Assist in Software as a Service (SaaS) products security assessments
  • Maintain regular reporting on incident status, support issues, and progress toward security goals

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of degree and experience required
  • Experience in IT environments with strong security practices
  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac platforms
  • Understanding of information security fundamentals (threat modeling, penetration testing, incident response, network security, physical security, etc.)
  • Knowledge of identity and cloud security technologies

Preferred Education and Experience

  • One year of related experience
  • Information security related certificate such as CySA+, Security+, Network+
  • Knowledge and experience with the M365 security tools such as Defender and Sentinel
  • Experience with industry standards such as HIPPA, ISO 27001, ISO 31000, NIST
  • Familiarity with Linux and TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Experience with security concerns in scientific research
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow
  • Experience working on large-scale projects

Pay and Schedule

  • Annualized salary range: $86,150 - $106,650
  • This is an essential job and expected to report for work regardless of weather and/or other conditions
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required
