About the role
Trafford Council is looking for an experienced Information Governance professional to join its Information Governance Team on a fixed-term basis. The team is responsible for a wide range of activities, including handling requests for information and other information rights, providing expert advice and guidance on information management, supporting the council in meeting its statutory responsibilities, and recommending best practices.
Responsibilities
- Handle complex subject access requests, particularly covering Children’s Social Care records
- Respond to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations
- Develop, review, and implement policies and procedures
- Provide advice on all aspects of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Offer guidance on data sharing and assist in developing appropriate data sharing agreements
- Guide colleagues through completing Data Protection Impact Assessments, advising on risks and mitigations
Requirements
- Recent experience in information governance or a related field
- Detailed, up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation
- Experience handling complex subject access requests
- Strong attention to detail for preparing records for disclosure
- Willingness to develop knowledge of information law, standards, and best practices
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to persuade and influence internal and external stakeholders
