Information Center Representative II - Temporary
About the role
The State of Vermont Information Center Division is seeking motivated, self-starting individuals with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to promote Vermont and welcome visitors to our State. Duties are performed at the Bradford Information Center on Interstate 91, with the possibility to work at other locations.
Responsibilities
- Greet and provide information to visitors
- Read maps and assist with navigation
- Perform record keeping
- Hourly cleaning of restrooms
- Mopping and general custodial tasks
- Snow removal, including shoveling and/or use of a snowblower
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Use Microsoft Office software
Work environment
Work is usually performed at an assigned facility. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. Some overtime work may be necessary. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all weather and on rough or slippery ground. Field travel may be necessary, for which private means of transportation must be available.
Schedule
The Center operates from 10 am to 6 pm, 365 days a year. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.
Requirements
- One (1) year or more of work experience that includes customer service
Preferred qualifications
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to read maps and complete internet searches
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook email
- Experience in tourism, hospitality, recreation, marketing, public relations, or a related field
