Informatica PowerCenter & IDMC (IICS) Developer – Migration Specialist

About the role

Experienced Informatica PowerCenter and IDMC/IICS Developer supporting enterprise migration from PowerCenter to IDMC. Strong ETL development experience with hands-on expertise in Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Cloud Data Integration (CDI), and IDMC/IICS services. Proven experience assessing, migrating, validating, and optimizing ETL workloads in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing Informatica PowerCenter mappings, workflows, sessions, reusable objects, and dependencies
• Design, develop, test, and deploy ETL/ELT solutions using IDMC/IICS CDI
• Perform end-to-end PowerCenter-to-IDMC migration, including:
  • Mapping and workflow assessment
  • ETL logic conversion and redevelopment
  • Parameter and configuration migration
  • Validation and reconciliation
  • Performance optimization
• Compare DEV, QA, and PROD environments to identify configuration, parameter, and code differences
• Validate production configurations and dependencies
• Migrate and optimize complex transformations, workflows, task flows, and reusable components
• Work with source and target systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, and flat files
• Troubleshoot migration issues, data quality issues, performance issues, and connectivity issues
• Create migration documentation, technical specifications, and deployment procedures
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and support teams
• Perform unit testing, system integration testing, and production validation

CDI-PC / PowerCenter Asset Analysis

• Analyze CDI-PC / PowerCenter workflows, mappings, sessions, mapplets, worklets, parameter files, reusable components, and dependency structures
• Assess conversion readiness and identify complexity drivers
• Document technical assumptions, gaps, and risks
• Review runtime behavior, parameterization patterns, file-handling logic, source/target connectivity, and transformation-level dependencies
• Analyze B2B service dependencies and EDI integration patterns; awareness of 835/837 file format handling is desirable

IDMC / IICS Design & Development

• Design and create IDMC/IICS assets corresponding to legacy sessions, mappings, workflows, and runtime configurations
• Create and validate mapping tasks, taskflows, connections, schedules, parameters, and other required IDMC assets
• Ensure IDMC implementation aligns with functional requirements, source-to-target rules, transformation behavior, scheduling requirements, and operational controls
• Drive configuration consistency, naming standards, reusable patterns, and environment migration practices

Complex Transformation Handling

• Analyze complex Informatica transformations, including Java, XML, Expression, Router, Lookup, Aggregator, and reusable transformation logic
• Understand transformation behavior differences between IDMC/CDI-PC and PowerCenter
• Identify capability differences, conversion constraints, and redesign requirements
• Identify transformation-specific risks and develop IDMC-compatible alternatives
• Guide developers on remediation approaches

Validation, Testing & DVO

• Own technical validation of converted assets
• Perform or support unit testing, system integration testing, and data reconciliation
• Conduct defect triage and production-readiness checks
• Create or review Oracle SQL validation queries to compare source and target results and confirm conversion accuracy
• Familiarity with Informatica Data Validation Option (DVO)
• Support repeatable reconciliation and automated validation
• Review logs, runtime statistics, and failure patterns to troubleshoot across CDI-PC, IDMC, databases, Unix, and file-handling layers

Estimation, Planning & Delivery Leadership

• Estimate conversion and testing efforts based on number of transformations, workflow dependencies, parameterization, source/target count, B2B/EDI interactions, custom logic, and testing scope
• Break technical work into actionable tasks and allocate work based on team member skills, complexity, and delivery priorities
• Track project progress, identify blockers and risks early, and coordinate with functional teams
• Provide status updates and risk communication
• Drive process improvements and develop reusable migration accelerators
