Overview

Indiana University Health is seeking an Infection Preventionist- Senior to join their Quality and Patient Safety team. This role requires a proactive approach to risk mitigation, directing facility-based multidisciplinary teams in infection surveillance and outbreak investigations. The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert, mentor less experienced colleagues, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • 3 plus years of infection prevention experience is preferred.
  • Requires Certification in Infection Prevention.
  • Completion of a Mentorship course is required within the first year of hire.
  • Requires knowledge of infectious disease, epidemiology, asepsis and immunology, medical procedures, and medical and environmental microbiology.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of local, state, and national regulations and standards and their impact on infection control.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a key leader within the healthcare system, directing facility-based multidisciplinary teams in executing targeted infection surveillance and managing comprehensive outbreak investigations for both patients and personnel.

Recommend and educate on preventative measures, and co-lead system-level initiatives to elevate infection prevention standards across the organization.

Ensure strict adherence to regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.

Mentor less experienced colleagues and onboarding new Infection Preventionists.

Communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders—from clinical staff to external partners—to champion evidence-based decision-making and uphold an unwavérnslty commitment to patient safety and organizational excellence.
