Job Summary

The Infection Preventionist conducts organization-wide surveillance, reports communicable diseases to public health, monitors the environment for infection prevention and control risks, and provides educational/in-service activities supporting the organization-wide infection control program, including inpatient and ambulatory.

Pay Range

Minimum $104,832 Midpoint $138,902 Maximum $172,973

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Preferred: Five (5) years of experience in infection control & epidemiology.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, lab/health science, public health or related health field.
  • If RN Certification in Infection Control, then BSN required within three years of hire.

Training

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CDC, CAL OSHA, CDPH standards for infection prevention and control.

Specialized Skills

  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of CDC-NHSN definitions, software and data analysis.
  • Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards;
  • Care with sensitivity and respect;
  • Advance care through development of new ideas and technology;
  • Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC’s mission;
  • Understand and exceed customer expectations.
