Infection Preventionist II

Responsibilities

• Actively suggests and seeks ideas to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Able to prepare for group meetings by identifying key issues and expectations and can identify resources most likely to guide project tasks.
• Demonstrates competence as an infection preventionist and is an active advocate for patient safety.
• Independently develops educational material, delivers training on varied infection control topics, and exhibits a diverse skill set (surveillance, outbreak and post exposure contact investigation, analysis, education, communication).
• Demonstrates strategic thinking by understanding health system goals and applying these to planning projects and interventions.
• Rotation in the on call schedule will be managed independently.
• Will help lead the IP team preparation for Joint Commission and Regulatory readiness as well as assist with infection control policy revisions.
• Will orient and mentor new departmental team members.
• Will be proficient with utilization of NHSN definitions related to hospital acquired infections.

Requirements

• Required 3 years of Clinical Related experience with RN license and Nursing Degree OR - 3 years Microbiology experience with Medical Technologist Certification and Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or Public Health OR - 2 years Infection Control with RN license and Nursing Degree OR - 2 years Epidemiology experience with a Masters Degree in Epidemiology and at least one year of clinical experience OR - 3 years RRT experience with RRT license and active NBRC Credential RRT with Associates in Respiratory Care Certification
• Required Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC)
