About the role
To ensure that the facility remains a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises and managing visitors. Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned site. Preserves order and acts to enforce regulations when assistance is requested by medical staff or employees. Responds rapidly to security emergencies within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Patrol the premises to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Monitor and manage visitor access.
- Observe and report activities and incidents.
- Preserve order and enforce regulations as needed.
- Respond rapidly to security emergencies.
- Monitor surveillance systems and write reports.
- Respond to and report activities that could result in injury, damage, or loss of property.
- Communicate effectively with diverse groups, including members, patients, visitors, and medical personnel.
- Write accurate, clear, and legible reports.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with facility staff.
- Operate and maintain knowledge of all security equipment and software.
- Identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
- Handle intervention incidents, including patient restraints and violent subjects.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of related experience (preferably in a healthcare setting).
- Demonstrated experience in monitoring surveillance systems and writing reports.
- Experience, knowledge, or training in safety, fire protection, civil disturbance, emergency preparedness procedures, CPR/AED, and security/safety standards as set forth by the Department of Health Services and The Joint Commission is preferred.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Physical ability to handle intervention incidents, including patient restraints and violent subjects.
- Ability to exercise emotional control, judgment, and objectivity.
Qualifications
- Valid current California driver’s license is required.
- BLS – Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
Schedule
Full-time, anticipated work schedule:
- Monday to Friday or Friday to Tuesday
- Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
