Job Summary
As our Infection Preventionist, you will develop, implement, and evaluate effective infection prevention and control programs across the organization. Your responsibilities include conducting surveillance for healthcare-associated infections, analyzing data to identify trends, designing evidence-based interventions, educating staff, consulting on infectious disease issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and analyze data to identify trends.
- Design and implement evidence-based interventions to prevent the spread of infections.
- Educate staff on infection prevention and control practices.
- Consult on infectious disease issues and provide guidance to clinical staff.
- Ensure compliance with Hospital Accreditation Standards, State and CMS regulations, and regulatory agency requirements.
- Assist the department leader with ongoing assessment and development of programs, policies, and procedures.
- Perform assessments from an infection prevention perspective and recommend appropriate actions.
- Round in assigned inpatient units, outpatient areas, perioperative areas, and ancillary departments to evaluate compliance with infection prevention practices, policies, and regulatory agency requirements.
- Assist with the development of programs, policies, and procedures addressing the Infection Prevention needs of employees, volunteers, contract workers, independent contractors, physicians, registry workers, and students.
- Oversee and monitor the clinical work of staff, identifying competency and training needs, and coordinating and overseeing training.
- Acquire and maintain current knowledge of infection prevention professional society guidelines, best practices, and regulatory requirements through attending conferences and workshops, reviewing literature, and networking with specialists.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with a focus on epidemiology or Associates Degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Three (3) years of healthcare-related experience.
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC) within 24 months.
