About the role
Broad Reach Healthcare in Chatham, Cape Cod, is looking for a full-time Infection Preventionist Nurse, to play a key role in protecting the health and well-being of our residents, staff, and visitors by implementing and overseeing infection control programs and ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the facility's infection prevention and control program in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Monitor infection rates, track outbreaks, and conduct surveillance activities. Provide data analysis and reporting to identify trends and potential concerns.
- Conduct regular in-service training for staff on infection prevention practices, proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and other infection control measures.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and update infection control policies and procedures, ensuring they meet current CDC, state, and local health department guidelines.
- Take a lead role in managing and containing any infectious outbreaks within the facility. Coordinate with public health authorities as needed.
- Provide education to residents and families on infection prevention, especially for those with chronic conditions or compromised immune systems.
- Maintain accurate records of infection-related incidents and reporting to the appropriate health agencies.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required (active and in good standing)
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) must be obtained
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an infection control role in a skilled nursing or healthcare setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices, CDC guidelines, and state and federal regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
