About the role

The Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Coordinator improves patient and staff safety by working to minimize the risk of transmission of infections associated with procedures, equipment and devices as well as analyzing and investigating other patterns in disease conditions relevant to the needs of OMC, and the community it serves. Applies sound epidemiologic principles to proactively identify and mitigate adverse outcomes by analyzing trends and risk factors and collaborating to develop and implement appropriate control strategies.

  • Risk assessment and risk reduction strategies (infectious disease transmission, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization, construction/renovation projects, water management events and air quality events)
  • Infection surveillance
  • Staff education
  • Organism surveillance (including emerging pathogens)
  • Notifiable diseases reporting
  • Collaborates to align IPC with organizational goals

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a healthcare related field required; comparable training and experience may be considered
  • Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in infection prevention and control or a related field, such as employee/occupational health, public health, population health, or laboratory science, required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with DNV accreditation standards, preferred

Qualifications

  • Associate Infection Prevention and Control (A-ICP) certification, preferred
  • Must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Basic infection prevention coursework required within 90 days of hire
    • Associate Infection Prevention and Control (A-ICP) certification
    • DNV Certified Healthcare Infection Prevention Professional (CHIPP) certification required within one year of hire

Pay

Pay Range: $33.18 - $50.51 per hour

Schedule

  • Full-time (100% FTE)
  • Variable work shift
  • No shift differentials/premiums for weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts
