We are looking for an experienced Infection Control Nurse (RN) to join us. This is more than a nursing job; it is a leadership role. Essential Functions

• Develop and maintain an effective system-wide infection prevention and control program for the facility.
• Gather and analyze infection data, facts, and trends and communicate this information to other healthcare staff.
• Provide training and education to medical and non-medical staff on prevention techniques and practices.
• Monitor and evaluate the prevalence of healthcare-associated infections.
• Support teamwork is essential for compliance with regulatory standards.
• Recognize, isolate, and prevent healthcare-associated infections that impact client safety and outcomes.
• Direct and assist in preparing reports and statistical data for the infection control committee, the facilities administration, and other committees, as needed.
• Make recommendations regarding environmental rounds and assure compliance with standards.
• Notify the Public Health Agency and the Wyoming Department of Health of reportable diseases as required by state statute.
• Monitor trends in unusual or resistant organisms for evidence of spread to other clients and staff.
• Perform annual assessments and develop action plans from the prior year's activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and three (3) or more years of experience in infection control and prevention. Infection Control Certification (CIC) is a plus.
• KNOWLEDGE: Skills at an excellent level in communication, both written and interpersonal. Ability to present information formally and informally using a variety of methods. Skills in time management and the flexibility to meet a wide range of service needs. Skills in leadership, management, and creativity. Knowledge of the principles of decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization, the methods to achieve these processes, and methods of monitoring efficacy. Ability to clearly communicate directions and negotiate the solution of problems. Knowledge of the epidemiology of infectious diseases and methods to effectively control their spread. Ability to accept responsibility for medium to large-scale projects involving multiple resources and spanning many months from start to finish. Ability to react efficiently to frequent changes in duties and volume of work. Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
• Education: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing). Experience: 1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming OR Education & Experience Substitution: 4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming Necessary Special Requirements
