Major Responsibilities
- Notifies the County and/or State Health Department of any reportable diseases, adhering to all county and state procedures.
- Manages potential bloodborne pathogen exposures.
- Manages the infection control program which includes surveillance; analysis of data; developing reports, policies and procedures along with prevention and control strategies.
- Participates in infection prevention and control education and MassLeague Forum meetings.
- Performs education to employees during orientation and as needed thereafter.
- Maintains complete and accurate employee health records and ensures compliance with state and federal requirements for reporting for employee health.
- Collaborates with various departments and colleagues, including Safety Officer, Human Resources, Compliance, Nursing Officer and others as needed to advocate for employee health and safety.
- Coordinates the development and implementation of all employee health initiatives and programs.
- Coordinates with Human Resources pre-employment and onboarding processes for employees.
- Orders, monitors results, and verifies vaccinations for employees.
- Completes TB assessments upon hire and coordinates with new employees to complete TB acknowledgement forms.
- Coordinates annual influenza vaccinations clinics for employees.
- Provides guidance for employees on health-related issues as needed.
- Performs annual FIT/N95 testing and educates employees on OSHA directives.
- Conducts annual EOC rounds and performs sharps assessments in conjunction with clinical leaders, maintaining documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Acts as the point of contact for employee injuries.
- Reports to the Safety Committee.
Professional Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in healthcare required.
- Current nursing license (RN) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree (BSN) preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- CIC certification preferred.
