About the role

The Floater Infant and Toddler Teacher supports teachers in promoting and developing infants and toddlers' social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and linguistic growth and development. They ensure learning environments are nurturing spaces that support all children's development.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families.
  • Ensure the safety of all children and staff by complying with written safety standards.
  • Establish and maintain a healthy and safe indoor and outdoor environment for children.
  • Assist teachers in the implementation of the curriculum and teaching experience.
  • Model appropriate behavior and positive guidance techniques.
  • Assist with food services and classroom needs as requested.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Assure general maintenance and security of facility and assist with inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct daily routine cleaning that includes refilling and stocking classroom/restroom supplies.
  • Complete other related activities and duties assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Agree to enroll and complete a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) program upon hire (tuition assistance may be available).
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License, Personal Vehicle and Liability Insurance required (states utilizing public transportation require a valid state ID).

Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years, recent, paid, and successful experience working in a childcare or preschool setting.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and State of Texas licensing requirements.

Skills

  • Ability to see, hear, and use hands and fingers to fill out required forms.
  • Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds, twenty (20) pounds overhead, and forty (40) pounds from waist to shoulder; occasional lifting of fifty (50) pounds is required.
  • Ability to sit on the floor, bend at the waist, kneel, and/or stoop 75% of the time.
