Child Care Assistant Teacher PRN

About the role

Provides care for children in assigned groups, stressing individual needs within the developmental framework of social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

Creates an environment and provides experiences that are conducive to a child’s continuing growth in these areas.

Challenges the child within the context of their appropriate developmental level.

Responsibilities

• Assists in creating an environment and providing experiences that are conducive to a child’s continuing growth in social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.
• Works with other caregivers in a team setting to provide care for children in assigned groups.
• Writes notes and fills out incident reports to document interactions and incidents.
• Uses correct grammar and spelling in writing parent notes, incident reports and communication boards.
• Develops feelings of confidence and well-being by having opportunities for successful encounters with adults, peers and their physical environment.
• Challenges the child within the context of their appropriate developmental level.

Requirements

• Require DCF Introductory forty (40)-clock-hour Child Care Training comprised of Part I and Part II courses and five (5)-clock-hour (or .5 Continuing Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development, or within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Mandatory Education: HS EQ: High School Diploma, GEC or Certificate.
• Employment Screening Requirements: All individuals providing care to vulnerable populations are required to undergo background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to use correct grammar and spelling in writing parent notes, incident reports and communication boards.
• Demonstrated ability to work and plan with other caregivers in a team setting.
• Demonstrated ability to write notes and fill out incident reports.
• Demonstrated expert interpersonal and attention to detail skills.
• Demonstrated flexibility in working with several age groups of children.
• Demonstrated interest in learning early childhood development.
• Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm and respect for children.
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience working with children in a classroom setting.
