Sacramento Montessori School is looking for a warm, nurturing, dependable Infant Teacher who understands that caring for babies is about much more than keeping them safe. It's about building trust, responding to needs, and creating a calm environment where infants can develop at their own pace.

Pay

$22–$26 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Schedule

Monday–Friday, full-time

Responsibilities

  • Provide loving, attentive care throughout the day
  • Respond appropriately to each infant's individual needs and cues
  • Support feeding, diapering, sleeping, and daily routines
  • Hold, comfort, talk, sing, and engage with infants
  • Support infants as they develop movement, coordination, communication, and independence
  • Provide age-appropriate Montessori experiences and activities
  • Encourage tummy time, movement, exploration, and sensory experiences
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and peaceful classroom
  • Follow safe sleep, health, and sanitation practices
  • Maintain appropriate supervision and teacher-to-child ratios
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents and families
  • Record daily information and communicate important updates about each child
  • Work collaboratively with your teaching team
  • Follow California licensing requirements and school policies
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development

Requirements

  • Meet California licensing requirements for an Infant Teacher position
  • Provide documentation of education and experience

Qualifications

  • Experience working with infants and young children in a licensed childcare center, preschool, infant program, family childcare home, nanny setting, Early Head Start, or similar setting
  • Completion of required Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework or willingness to complete required coursework
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification
  • Knowledge of infant development, age-appropriate activities, and responsive caregiving
  • Understanding of safe sleep practices, sanitation, and basic health and safety procedures
  • Ability to maintain appropriate supervision and teacher-to-child ratios
  • Ability to communicate professionally with families and coworkers
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
  • Genuine interest in early childhood education and Montessori philosophy

Montessori experience is a plus but not required.
